NIJ Body Armor Technical Workshop, May 8, 2008, Annapolis, Maryland
Conference Purpose
The purpose of this workshop was to provide information on NIJ's Ballistic-Resistant Body Armor Program, including the following: changes in performance requirements and test methods of the revised body armor standard, research that will support future revisions of the standard, and an introduction to the enhanced Compliance Testing Program and its requirements. NIJ welcomes feedback on the workshop presentations or the pre-publication pre-publication draft standard.
The revised standard and compliance testing process are the culmination of a multi-year effort by NIJ, the National Institute for Standards and Technology, and the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center - National to address the law enforcement community's concerns about the ongoing performance of ballistic-resistant body armor.
