CyberScience Laboratory
Mission
In March of 2000 the National Institute of Justice's Office of Science and Technology (NIJ/OST) established the CyberScience Laboratory (CSL). The mission of the CSL is to:
- Implement cybersecurity training seminars, workshops, and expos nationwide in order to build capacity at the state and local law enforcement levels.
- Develop a national government, industry, and academic collaboration to address cybercrime technical issues.
- Share a forensic tool knowledge base from government and industry with the NLECTC system and state and local law enforcement agencies across the United States.
- Heighten cybersecurity awareness nationwide.
- Facilitate cybersecurity and technology assistance.
Designated as a National Resource Center by NIJ, the CSL has a national charter to assist the cybersecurity community. Through the CSL's delivery system and its relationship with NLECTC-Northeast and the Air Force Research Laboratory/Information Directorate (AFRL/IF) in Rome, New York, the Laboratory has been on the forefront of cybersecurity.
